Lou Dobbs is the most conspicuous manifestation of how xenophobia can be socialized and normalized in a Post-9/11 U.S.  His vicious attack on immigrants encourages subtle and blatant violence against Latinos, and encourages a myopic vision of whiteness in this country. A problematic understanding of “American Culture and Identity” currently clouds our collective judgment.  Moreover, CNN’s willingness to extract significant financial gains is perverse.  This network has discovered that nativism, xenophobia, and racism make a handsome sell.
