Not Journalism

I can’t comment on his television show as I don’t watch TV news, but the written opinions of Lou Dobbs on CNN.com are fueled by bluster and scare tactics. He criticizes Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte for “tortured reasoning” and New York Governor Eliot Spitzer of “flail[ing] against the facts,” but Dobbs uses neither reason nor facts in his column. Dobbs’s style is incendiary rhetoric. Throwing bad words at people you don’t agree with is not journalism, though, sadly, it may be politics.
