Origins
This section allows users to access content about the
wide-ranging heritage of Latino Americans. Content focuses on the history,
culture, and customs of countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the
Iberian Peninsula, as well as Indigenous civilizations.
By clicking on the Origins link on the Home Page or from the
Additional Resources link in the top-level navigation bar, you will be taken to
the Origins section. You may also be invited to enter the Origins section as
the result of entering keyword Search that contains the name of a given country
or region. Once you have entered the Origins section, you can select a country
to explore by clicking on a country name the drop-down menu at the left or by
scrolling over the countries shown on the map and clicking when the country you
wish to explore further is highlighted.

Once you have clicked on a country – Chile, for example –
you will be taken to an At a Glance view that will show the flag, a map, and
some basic information about the country, such as Geography, People, and
Government, which you can navigate by clicking on the headings at the top of
the page.

To the left, you will see a Browse Country drop-down menu.
For many countries this menu will give you the option of accessing more In
Depth information about the country, in this case from two Greenwood titles – The
History of Chile and Culture and Customs of Chile – as well as
information about Indigenous Peoples, in this example content from The Daily
Life of the Inca Empire. You can also access contemporary and historical
maps in both black and white and color.
Clicking on an In Depth link, for example The History of
Chile (2003), will take you to a view that closely resembles a Results view
in the main section of LAE. From here, you can click on the author’s name to
learn about his credentials, navigate through the Table of Contents at the
right for an e-book experience, click on any of the Related Resources offered
on the top right hand side of the page, or scroll below the Browse Country menu
to view the Related Topics from the index, which will take you back to broader
results from the main database.
